World Youth Choir
The World Youth Choir is looking for young, talented, experienced singers from all over the world, interested in improving their skills of choral singing while touring Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, and Italy. Session dates: July 30th (day of arrival) to August 20th (day of departure), 2020.

- are passionate and experienced high level choral singers or soloists;
- are between 17 and 26 years old on July 1, 2020 (obligatory);
- have basic or professional music education;
- are ready to improve their singing and social skills;
- are ready to meet new friends all over the world;
- are ready to accept diversity of world cultures;
- are eager to learn in a multicultural environment;
- are ready to spend one month with great people.
How to apply?
Choral Canada is a national recruiter for the World Youth Choir and will be administering online (pre-recorded, not live) auditions. If you are interested in applying, please carefully read the Information for Singers document.
Please note that only applications which follow the guidelines will be evaluated. Please read the following instructions very carefully.
STEP ONE
Please contact Zina Koro at info@choralcanada.org by November 10, 2019, to express your interest to audition.
Provide the following information:
-Your name and contact information
-Your voice part (S, A, T, B).
-The name and contact information (email) of your audition supervisor (choral conductor, voice teacher/coach, professor)
The required prepared score (passage of Beethoven's 9th Symphony) can be downloaded here. The sight-reading materials will be sent directly to your audition supervisor by Zina Koro.
No expression of interest will be accepted after November 10.
STEP TWO
Work with your audition supervisor to compile the audition package. Your audition supervisor will be responsible for submitting the fully-completed application package directly to Zina Koro at info@choralcanada.org. by November 24, 2019. The following items should be placed in one Google Drive or Dropbox folder and the link emailed to Zina Koro.

2. Singer photo
3. Colour scan of singer's passport.
For singers who are residents of the European Union and/or can travel to Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, and Italy using their national Identity Document (ID), the passport scan can be substituted by an ID scan.
4. Four mp3 audition files
Your audition supervisor will label/save each one of the four mp3 files with the voice part, country, name and surname, and the audition element (e.g., T2_USA_JohnSmith_Element.mp3). 'Element' will change according to VocalRange, SightReading, PreparedScore, and AriaofChoice.
Submission of Application
The audition supervisor, rather than the singer, will submit the fully-completed application package directly to Zina Koro at info@choralcanada.org. This is for the obvious quality control protection. The singer, as the applicant, is responsible for assisting in the compilation of the audition package by providing the audition supervisor with the following:
The Canadian national jury will review the applications and recommend a maximum of 12 Canadian singers (S-3, A-3, T-3, B-3) to advance to the international jury. All applicants will be notified with the results of the Canadian national jury by December 20, 2019. The announcement of 2020 WYC singers will be in late February 2020.

Why should you join the WYC?
Beyond the project itself, the World Youth Choir is a way to network with choral youth in the world. Selected singers/session participants are considered cultural “ambassadors” of their country. In return they make friends with young people from all over the world, learn of new/different singing techniques, improve interpretation as well as stage
performance capacities while singing choral music of various styles, time periods and the many genres of each continent, learn about other cultures and bring back home choral music from different world countries.
The World Youth Choir by its music, performances and presence (sessions) in different regions of the world, each or every other year, sends a message of peace, brotherhood, and the vitality of life itself. UNESCO named the World Youth Choir “Artist for Peace” in 1996, recognizing its success as a platform for intercultural dialogue through music.
